Chemical Restraint

Has anyone out there had the opportunity to use the new chemical restraint protocol outlined in the latest update? How did it work? Was it hard to convince the Doc for the order? What hospital did the order come from?

We had an unknown overdose with a combative pt. Orders for chemical restraint were given however not at the doses in our protocol. We had to give numerous doses both iv and in, didn't work well on that pt. They ended up giving the pt quite a bit of haldol and ativan.

This d@mn chemical restraint stuff is going to kill someone, especially with some of the goofs working as Medics as there are now. We can do a chemical restraint, but have no chance of a life saving RSI???
Restraint is the responsibility of the police, not Fire or EMS. Tazers work great instead of Versed.
