Hey Greg
This was sent to us from an EMS provider who happened to catch the news about the recent Hillside fire over the weekend. Greg Harris, IFD PIO, commented in response to a question from a reporter that it was Mothers Day and a difficult day to lose so many lives. Capt. Harris commented on how difficult it was for the families, the community, and the firefighters.
No mention of how hard it was on the Paramedics and EMT’s who transported these patients. Again, EMS doesn’t count. What a slap in the face by Captain Harris.
We’ve also been asked to pass on a thank you to the police officers who drove the ambulances from the fire to the hospital.
Stay Safe
Dee

I personally want to thank the 2 IMPD officers who drove us in. it was a hard run to deal with considering we had no help whatsoever from the fire department, but we handled the situation and overcame as the run played out. thanks to our managers who were there to help out as well. be safe everyone.
No help from IFD for EMS on a fire run? Say it isn't so, that has "NEVER" happened before.
When u got a merit fire fighter doing all the public relations for IFD and wishard how can u expect to get credit. Apparenty 6 months of fire school is alot more detailed than 14 months of paramedicine i mean it is hard to put water on a fire keep holdin your hose guys
Good job guys...I was thinking of you. It's not the darn fireman who get the unpleasant task of pumping on a dead chest....NO its the medics. I am now a firefighter, but EMS has ALWAYS and sadly, probably always will be left out. Your not alone, the cops get left out too. The media only pump up the "hero" fireman. Please !! if they knew what we knew about who REALLY does all the dirty work and who REALLY saves the lives, it would be a different story. Keep up the good work.
(Sorry anonymous, edited for graphic detail, Dee)
I'm sick of watching the news when they quote Harris or interview him. I t makes me want to throw a brick at my tv.

You gotta be shittin' me. Why would you expect an abundance of help from IFD on a working entrapment fire????? Get your head out of your ass. If you want some camera time for the Wiz, get your own PIO!!!!
Its not about "camera time", its about the PEOPLE you so called "heroes" pull out of the fire. Do you think its right to hand a lifeless child to a medic, then leave them alone to resuscitate them? Step 1 is finding the victim, step 2 is giving all you can to save them, step 3 is putting out the fire. No different than when you extricate someone and everyone suddenly vanishes to "clean up".
I and my partner were both in the back of M-31 (I think)when they transported the 10 year old little girl to Methodist with another IFD firefighter driving upfront. That made for 3 IFD firefighters in 1 ambulance.
I'd imagine the reason there weren't any firefighters available to help when the first 2 victims came out is because they were still trying to locate the other 2 victims.....
victims # 3 and 4 were worked on in the front yard of the house by IFD firefighters while we waited on the additional Medic units to arrive.
I thought everyone did the best they could given the circumstances.
Dave.
